It starts with a look, then a thought, then desire, then your consent, then the act. Break the chain as early as you can. Full episode: Double Edged Sword Ep 171, Battling & Overcoming Temptation https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QzSsqIMMCHo

Don't listen to gossip. When told someone was speaking against him, a holy man answered, "I didn't hear it." Fr. Genard Lazar on fasting with your ears. Full episode: Double Edged Sword Ep 171, Battling & Overcoming Temptation https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QzSsqIMMCHo

Temptation is common and inevitable. In 1 Corinthians 10:13, St. Paul writes, "No temptation has overtaken you, but that which is common to man." So the question is not whether you will be tempted, but how you will battle. Father Genard Lazar shows how to resist and overcome. Temptation is not itself sin; guilt belongs to our consent. Satan tempts, but he cannot compel. That is why St. James says, "Resist the devil and he will flee from you" (James 4:7). If he had the power, he would not flee. In Matthew 5:28-29, Jesus exposes the chain: a look, a thought entertained, desire, consent, action. Break it early. Watch where your eyes wander when you're scrolling your phone, and remove yourself from the occasion, even if it's your best friend who keeps causing you to fall. So write it down: when, how, and why do I open myself to temptation? Then answer Satan with Scripture, as Christ did in Matthew 4. Read it yourself, and bring your Bible to Bible study. Pray and fast (Matthew 17), and let the fast reach your mouth (no cussing, no gossip), your eyes (don't just look away at the nude scenes; don't watch it), and your ears, like the holy man who was told someone was speaking badly of him and answered, "I didn't hear it." And remember, "Bad company corrupts good morals" (1 Corinthians 15:33). Key takeaways • Temptation is not sin; guilt comes with consent, and Satan cannot compel • Break the chain early: guard your eyes and avoid the occasion of sin • Answer temptation with Scripture you actually read, as Christ did • Fast with your mouth, eyes, ears, and hands, not just your stomach • Stay close to people who are trying to be holy Listen, share, and let the double-edged sword do its work in you today. "No one knows." But there is a surveillance camera, and that's God. Whatever is done in secret is still seen. Be prepared. Full episode: Double Edged Sword Ep 170, The Law of God the Law of Sin https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tReTsFtPq0I

A burning conscience isn't a license to sin, but it means the Spirit of God is still speaking. The danger is when it goes quiet. Full episode: Double Edged Sword Ep 170, The Law of God the Law of Sin https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tReTsFtPq0I

I know it is wrong, and I do it anyway. Why? In Romans 7:20-25, St. Paul names the war inside every believer, and Father Genard Lazar walks through it: the law of God in the mind, and the law of sin in the members. Paul is clear that the body is not sin. Mortality is the outcome of sin, and our bodily members become the instrument through which passions and desires seek dominion. Father Genard puts it plainly: if your conscience is burning you, you are in a good place. The danger is when it goes quiet. Those who sin in secret, thinking no one knows, are reminded that God is the surveillance camera, and what is hidden will be revealed. Then the members are redirected. Eyes that look to lust can instead see creation and a brother or sister. Legs can walk to church, to Bible study, to people who need you. Hands can give help and charity instead of harm. But knowing the good is not enough. Like the gambler who has emptied the savings account and promises to repay every cent, knowing does not set us free. Paul's cry, "O wretched man that I am, who shall deliver me from this mortal body?", leads to his answer: thanks be to God through Jesus Christ our Lord. Key takeaways • The body is not sin; mortality is the outcome of sin, and sin uses our members • A burning conscience is a gift. Don't neglect it, and don't hide your sin • Use your eyes, legs, and hands for holiness, not evil • Knowing the good cannot free us; deliverance comes through Jesus Christ Listen, share, and let the double-edged sword do its work in you today. Satan cannot touch your soul

The law doesn't create sin. It exposes what was already there. Cain knew he had sinned long before "thou shalt not kill" was ever written.
